1. Who We Are

ShareBite is a student capstone web platform developed for Calbayog City that connects food donors with animal owners for the redistribution of surplus food as supplemental animal feed. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information.

2. Information We Collect

  • Account details: your name, email address, contact number, role (Donor or Animal Owner), and business type (for donors).
  • Location: your barangay/address and, with your permission, your device's GPS coordinates — used to sort listings by proximity and coordinate pickups.
  • Activity: the listings you post, the claims you make, and messages you send through the platform.
  • Animal holdings: the types and quantities of animals you own (for Animal Owners), used to show relevant listings.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to operate ShareBite: to authenticate your account, match surplus food to appropriate animals, sort listings by distance, enable donor–recipient coordination, send you relevant notifications, and generate impact reports. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

4. What Others Can See

When you post a listing (as a Donor) or claim one (as an Animal Owner), the other party can see your display name, general location, and contact number so that pickup can be arranged. Your password is never visible to anyone, including us.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase (a managed PostgreSQL service) with Row-Level Security, meaning users can only access the data they are authorized to see. Passwords are encrypted and never stored in plain text.

6. Your Rights

Under the Data Privacy Act, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of your personal information. You may update most details from your profile page, or contact us using the details on our Contact Support page.

7. Data Retention

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Listings automatically expire after 24 hours. If you request account deletion, your personal data will be removed from our active database.
